CREWE photographer Simon Newbury has organised a live music concert for charity Oxfam.

The Oxjam event, featuring nine artists and bands, will take place at The Box on Pedley Street from 5pm on Halloween night.

The 34-year-old has organised the marathon music event with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the charity.

“I’m a volunteer in the Crewe Oxfam shop because it’s good to give something back to the community and I find it rewarding,” explained Simon.

“I got an opportunity to put on a fundraising show thanks to my relationship with promoters Volume and it seemed obvious to call it BOXjam.

“It’s nice that the bands, artists and organisers have donated their time and it should be a great night of live music.”

Originally from Somerset, Simon moved to Crewe with wife Tina four years ago and set up his business alongside studying at Mid-Cheshire College.

He has added a variety of events such as weddings and portraits to his portfolio since starting out as a band photographer.

“It married my love of live music and photography,” he added.

“The first bands I took pictures off were Allegiance and Jam Session Rejects, Floody’s old band who is now in Bleached Wail.

“I think my highlights are becoming The Box’s official photographer and getting a triple distinction in my course at Mid-Cheshire.

“I’ve also been lucky enough to take pictures of such luminaries as James Toseland and Edward Timpson alongside Athlete, Feeder, Thea Gilmore and some of the great up and coming bands at The Box.”

Chloe kicks Simon’s fundraiser off at The Box with music coming from Ian Scanlan, his wife Tina, Dayve Dean, Silvertone Prophet Deluxe’s Julien Casewell and the Blue Yellows.

The Electric Kools, Earthona and Photo Booth Smile complete the line-up.

Admission to the event on Saturday October 31 is £3.
