POLICE hunting burglars who stole a safe want to hear from anyone with information about the incident.

They said the criminals must have used 'substantial' van to remove the 300kg safe from a house at Cherry Lane in Rode Heath on Saturday October 24 between 8pm and 9pm.

They believe they would also have carried out a reconnaissance visit to the Cherry Lane area before the burglary.

PC Dave Nixon said: “We would like to hear about anyone behaving suspiciously in that area on the night of the 24th or in the past few weeks.

“The time scale involved in the burglary was quite short and even though they used a trolley taken from the yard of the house, it would have needed at least two men to lift a safe of that size and weight and load it into a vehicle.

“The safe contained personal property and documents and some other items were also stolen.

"The burglars made an extensive and very untidy search of the house and it has left the family traumatised.
