YOUNGSTERS from Crewe's twinned town of Dzierzoniowe in Poland will be taking part in a football tournament this week.

The competition is being hosted by the Guy Harvey Youth Club at the Crewe Alex Community Soccer Centre.

More than 60 young people will be involved with Cheshire East Mayor Margaret Simon also attending to give a speech before presenting the winners with a trophy.

Last year the youth centre's football team raised money to visit Poland where they took part in a similar tournament which they won.

This event has been organised as a rematch and to develop the friendships that were formed in Poland.

The match is one of a range of activities that are planned while the visitors are in South Cheshire.

The groups will also visit Anfield football stadium in Liverpool and Chester Zoo.

They will also get to take part in youth centre activities.

Anita Vann, youth worker for Connexions, said: "It was great for our young people to visit Dzierzoniowe and to learn a little about Polish culture, we are delighted to be able to offer a similar opportunity to the young people from Poland.

"The football tournament will be a fantastic event I’m sure, the atmosphere at the last one was electric."

The football match will end with a presentation ceremony and a barbecue.
