PERFORMING Arts students helped to put a smile on youngsters’ faces by staging a special show at the Starting Point Child Care Centre.
The Crewe students put together an action-packed music and acting performance based on the theme of nursery rhymes at the South Cheshire College nursery.
Students have been studying three units during the first half term of the College academic year which include improvisation, singing and theatre for children and their performances targeted two to four year olds.
The show kicked off with songs from the popular musical ‘Mary Poppins’ before the group entertained tots with their different rhymes.
Starting Point caters for nought to five year olds and children are looked after by a team of qualified staff in a fun and friendly environment.
Caroline Fox, performing arts tutor, said: “This was just a one off event but it helped students demonstrate a number of skills which they have been learning during the first half term.
“It was great for our students to act out and sing in front of toddlers at the nursery because this was just the age group that they have been focusing on.”
Music tutor Anna Wootton also helped out at the nursery performance, which was staged at the nursery, currently based at Edleston Road while the college’s new campus is under construction.
Anna said: “The students have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and hopefully this gave them the chance to show off their acting and signing skills in front of a different age group.”
