THE Rotary Club of Nantwich has been awarded the Eddie Cramner Shield for the first time in its 75 year history.
The award is presented annually to the club in the local Rotary district that is judged to have given the greatest overall support to The Rotary Foundation during the previous year.
All of the 44 clubs in the region are automatically considered for the award which was presented at the recent District Conference in Blackpool.
To be considered for the shield, a club must score points in a variety of categories ranging from financial contributions to The Rotary Foundation to support of its Ambassadorial Scholarship and Peace Scholarship Programmes This award follows recent accolades to Nantwich Rotary Club for Best Bulletin and Rotary Foundation District Service Award, both club and individual.
Foundation Club chairman Nigel Ball said: “The Rotary Foundation is a significant charitable trust fund, whose aim is to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian and educational programmes. "I am delighted to have been awarded the Eddie Cramner Shield on behalf of the whole committee.” Rotarian Nigel Ball leads the Nantwich Rotary committee which has raised nearly £3,000 for the Rotary Foundation in the past 12 months.
