A WEAVERHAM High School teacher has been left bemused after no one turned up to a free training course aimed at job seekers.
ICT teacher Mike Davies is running a course in CLAIT – Computer Literacy and Information Technology – at the school but has had no attendees since it began in September.
It is also recognised by national exam board – OCR – and means employers know that the holders are able to use the main applications on a computer.
He is running the course at the school on Wednesday afternoon’s but told the Guardian he is bemused why no one is turning up despite advertising it at the job centre and at Connexions.
“We started the sessions when we came back in September and it is free of charge and leads to a recognised qualification,” he said.
“They can then go to the employer and say ‘look this is what I have got’ because it is widely recognised.
“People attending the job centre don’t seem to be interested and I just don’t get it.”
The course starts at 2pm and finishes at 3.15pm.
Mike added: “I thought we would be inundated.
“I rang Connexions and they said they are giving the details to lots of people and putting up posters but if I was in their shoes I would want a qualification that would get me in work.”
