AN INVENTIVE duo made famous on television’s Britain’s Got Talent are planning a homecoming performance in Northwich.
Floral Highnotes, an act that combines opera and floristry, will bring their unique show to Northwich Memorial Hall, in Chesterway, on November 27.
Made up of professional singer Helena Leonard and award-winning florist Ian Lloyd, Floral Highnotes reached the live semi-finals of the TV talent show in May, before losing out on a place in the final to comedy father and son dance act Stavros Flatley and boy singer Shaheen Jafargholi.
Speaking to the Guardian on Friday, Helena, whose parents own dancewear and school uniform shop LJ Little, in Castle, said: “I happened to be at mum’s shop yesterday and there was a little girl in who said ‘I thought you were fantastic on TV and have never heard a voice like it’.
“One little boy has apparently been awestruck and can’t believe that the lady who sometimes helps her mum in the shop is the same person who was on TV.”
Now the pair, who are both former Hartford High School pupils, are set to create a festive atmosphere in town with their Christmas With Floral Highnotes show.
Ian, whose family founded a nursery and florists in Northwich in 1935 and who now owns a shop in Wilmslow, said people should come to their show to get a real idea of their act.
His arrangements will also be raffled to the audience during the performance.
“Come along and see the full hour-and-a-half show rather than the minute-and-a-half you saw on TV,” he said.
“You can be awed by £3,000 worth of flowers which you also have the opportunity of winning.”
He will create seven Christmas arrangements to the accompaniment of both Helena’s singing and a pianist.
Helena said: “It’s going to be totally different on the night than what people have seen on TV.
“What people saw on Britain’s Got Talent was a minute-and-a-half of nothing because it’s not what the act is about.
“We just need Northwich people to come out and support us.”
Christmas With Floral Highnotes will start at 7.30pm on November 27.
