THE Market Centre in Crewe has donated more 80 items of furniture to local charity Christian Concern Crewe.
The charity, based at the St Paul’s Centre in Crewe, runs a furniture recycling project whereby they collect furniture donations to distribute to people in the local area in need of support. A selection of sofas, arm chairs, dining tables and dining chairs were presented by centre manager Glenn Davies to the charity. Mr Davies said: “With the recession hitting hard, these items could be a lifeline for local families in need.”
Rob Wykes, of Crewe Christian Concern, added: “The furniture the Market Centre has kindly donated will be distributed to people in the local community. "Any surplus items are sold at our weekly sale to fund the collection scheme.”
The furniture recycling project last year supported some 344 people in the community and re-housed almost 3,000 items of furniture.
