THE M6 has been reopened after a construction lorry overturned and shed its load of hot bitumen between junction 19 at Tabley and junction 18 at Middlewich.
The accident has caused gridlock on roads around the area, affecting the A556 in both directions.
A lorry overturned on the northbound carriageway across the central reservation at about 1.30am.
The estimated time of re-opening the southbound carriageway is 1pm.
For a diversion follow the hollow black triangle symbols - northbound - A54 to Middlewich, A530 to Northwich and the A556 to junction 19.
For southbound traffic follow the A556 to Northwich, A530 to Middlewich and A54 to junction 18.
