CHESHIRE West and Chester Council has issued a statement over a plan for six homes in Delamere.
A report in last week’s Guardian highlighted villagers’ confusion over plans discussed at September’s Delamere Parish Council meeting.
Linson Construction wants to build six homes on land on Station Road despite the parish council’s opposition.
Some residents are unsure whether the plans were for social or affordable housing.
A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “Social housing is an umbrella term referring to rental housing which is owned and managed by a registered social landlord, housing association, or not-for-profit organisation with the aim of providing affordable housing.
“Criteria for allocation of affordable housing vary.
“Affordable housing includes rented or shared ownership open to people unable to afford market rents or unable to buy in the open market.
“The planning application for the site in Delamere is for a rural exception site whereby priority on allocation would be to people with an established local connection.
“The Delamere planning application is for 100 per cent rented – fair rent not market rent – accommodation but with flexibility to incorporate a tenure mix to include intermediate housing.”
