PHEW! That was close.
Looking forward to seeing that performance on Match Of The Day tonight, because at half time I heard Newcastle 2 Stoke 0 and thought ‘Oh ****’.
The difference between a battling draw and a defeat is immense for our team, because it proves we are not just a team that can pinch a win by the odd goal, but a side that can dominate against established Premier League outfits.
Instead of being level on points with Newcastle, we are still three ahead of them, one week into December.
If anyone had offered me that prospect at the start of this season, I’d have said ‘yes, please, I’ll have that’.
My dad wants to know if I’m eating humble pie after Mama’s goal brought us back into the game.
Well, my concern was – and still is – that he won’t get enough goals in the Premier League.
He has three so far and we have played a dozen matches. Not the kind of return that has Premier League teams tossing and turning in their beds.
And there’s a certain wonderful irony in the man Newcastle let go, Abdoullah Faye, getting the equaliser.
So, Toon Army, who’s singing now?
