A MAN has been taken to hospital after crashing into a lamppost.

A large emergency service presence was called to Wharton this morning (November 28) following reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, crews found a BMW had collided with a lamppost, leaving one person trapped in the vehicle and needing to be rescued by firefighters.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 8.18am on Thursday, November 28, police were called to reports of a collision on Weaver Valley Road, Wharton.

“Officers attended and found a grey BMW had collided with a lamp post.

“One person was trapped in the car, they were released by firefighters and taken to hospital.

“The man is not believed to have sustained life changing injuries.”

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two engines, one each from the Winsford and Northwich stations, to the scene at 8.19am.

“Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving one car and a lamppost,” said a CFRS spokesperson.

“They stabilised the vehicle and police and paramedics were in attendance.

“Crews worked to get one person out of the vehicle and police closed the road while the incident was being dealt with.”

North West Ambulance Service took the man, who is believed to be in his 20s, to the hospital.

The ambulance service described his injuries as ‘non-serious’.
