A NORTHWICH man who led police on a chase around Winsford before kicking an officer in the face in trying to escape them has pleaded guilty.

Kyle Boag-Monroe, 20 and of Wood Lane in Weaverham, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and driving a motor vehicle dangerously at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

CPS prosecutor Valeriya Tonkinson told the court that on January 12, 2023, officers in Winsford tried to stop a red Ford Fiesta car being driven by Boag-Munroe.

She said officers had tried to employ a stinger on his vehicle but he swerved to avoid it, with his nearside tyres caught in it.

He then proceeded to drive off around the town, and at no point came into contact with other vehicles, but did reach speeds of 66mph in a 30mph zone in the direction of Chester via Orpington Road.

Mrs Tonkinson added Boag-Munroe did force other vehicles to slow down and move out of the way while he continued to weave about the road to avoid police officer attempting to cut him off.

He eventually exited the vehicle before running and trying to jump over a hedge and while a police constable tried to pull him back, he kicked him in the temple.

In interview, he offered an apology to the officer but gave no explanations as to why he drove dangerously around the town.

His defence called for a pre-sentence report and chairman of the bench Richard Wallace agreed, and adjourned the case until Tuesday, January 7.

However, he did warn Boag-Munroe that he could still be sentenced at Chester Crown Court.
