A CHARITY CEO will trek into the arctic to support families affected by childhood cancers.

The Joshua Tree has announced that its chief executive officer, Rich Driffield, will participate in the 2025 Arctic Frontier Challenge: Beyond Boundaries for Childhood Cancers.

Over the course of three days, starting on January 15, the team will trek 40 miles from Rovaniemi in Finland into the Arctic Circle.

They will face temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius as they haul heavy equipment, navigate harsh terrain and spend two nights sleeping under the stars.

Rich said: “As proud CEO of The Joshua Tree, I witness every day the transformative impact of our work on families navigating childhood cancer.

“That’s why I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and into the Arctic cold, to ensure we can continue to be a lifeline for families in their time of greatest need.”

The Joshua Tree supports over 380 families affected by childhood cancers across Cheshire, North Wales and North West England.

In recent months, it has seen an increase in families seeking support from the Midlands and Greater London.

Rich joined the Northwich-based charity as CEO in November 2021, bringing extensive experience in the charity sector, including leadership in income generation and strategy.

Under his guidance, The Joshua Tree has expanded its reach and services to meet the growing needs of families.

Danielle Percival, head of family support at The Joshua Tree, said: “Taking part in the trek is a prime example of how committed and driven Rich is for our charity.

“Knowing that the vital funds he raises will go directly to the families we support will mean he will give it his absolute all.

“Good luck Rich!”
