FLOOD defences have been taken down.
The flood warnings issued by the Environment Agency covering Mid Cheshire have now been removed.
As such, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Environment Agency staff have dismantled the temporary flood defences and reopened roads in Northwich town centre.
Councillor Sam Naylor said: "Some councils are getting stick for not having a grip on warnings and conditions on storm Bert!
"I just want to assure residents and businesses that CWAC, Northwich Town Council, the Environment Agency, United Utilities and the Canal and River Trust were totally aware and worked together in responding to flood threats to Northwich, Winsford and Acton Bridge.
"Meetings were held and measures were taken to protect people and businesses.
"Our MP Andrew Cooper and l and other councillors were kept fully up to date and tracked the measures taken.
"I went down to the marina at Waitrose and met with the officers and understood the precautions taken to protect the town!
"We can never say that the Bull Ring area will never flood again but I’m confident that all the agencies are working together to do all they can to protect our Mid Cheshire communities."
“London Road and Dane Road in Northwich reopened earlier this morning following the removal of phase two flood defences by the Environment Agency,” a council spokesperson added.
“River levels are now dropping, reducing flood risks.”
A flood warning was also issued in Winsford on Sunday (November 24), with New Road, Winsford Bridge and the Marina among the areas most at risk.
This warning has also since been revoked.
