A MAN was found with ‘life-changing’ injuries after armed police were called to reports of gunfire near Middlewich.
The 38-year-old casualty was discovered when firearms officers and a helicopter responded to reports of gunfire near Dragons Lane in Moston at around 9pm on Wednesday, November 20.
A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed the man suffered serious injuries to his chest and eye and is being treated in hospital.
A police presence remained in the Dragons Lane area overnight into Thursday, November 21. Enquiries are ongoing.
The police spokesman added: “At around 9pm on Wednesday, November 20, officers were called to reports of a firearms discharge in the Dragons Lane area of Moston.
On arrival, a 38-year-old man was discovered with injuries to his chest and eye.
"He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are thought to be life changing.
"Officers remained on scene throughout the evening and are conducting further enquiries.
Superintendent Claire Jesson, eastern area policing commander, added: “I understand this report will cause residents some concern.
“Please be assured my officers will be in the area providing a high visibility presence.
"If you have any information regarding the incident, please contact us via 101 or the website quoting IML-1967229."
