A CARE home is set to launch a new initiative to tackle loneliness.
Daneside Court Care Home in Northwich will host 'Friendship Friday' every second Friday of the month, starting on December 13.
The initiative aims to provide comfort and support to the community, especially during the cold winter months when loneliness and social isolation mostly affect the elderly.
The care home will open its doors to community members between, offering them a warm cup of tea, light snacks, and a chance to make new friends.
Daneside Court has planned a special guest for the launch of their first event.
Crunchy, a Shetland pony, will attend the event dressed as a unicorn to help spread cheer among residents and staff.
Samantha Farahat, home manager at Daneside Court Care Home, said: "We are delighted to be opening our doors at Daneside Court Care Home for our Friendship Friday initiative to welcome in members of the local community to help tackle loneliness and social isolation which is a key focus for us at any time of the year but especially during the dark cold winter months.
"Our Friendship Friday initiative, taking place on every second Friday of the month, will provide members of the local community to come into a friendly and welcoming environment for a cup of tea or coffee, light snacks and a chat to build meaningful connections and friendships with each other."
The first Friendship Friday on December 13 will run from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Daneside Court is a 64-bed care home, run by HC-One, offering both residential and nursing care on the banks of the River Dane in Northwich.
