AN eyesore piece of land near a Northwich pub is to get a new lease of life after being abandoned for years.

Cheshire West and Chester councillors Arthur Neil and Felicity Davies, who represent the Winnington and Castle, have launched a makeover project on the derelict land off Chester Road.

The land, next to the Blue Barrel pub, has been overgrown for many years, but the two councillors secured permission from the landowner to tidy up the area.

A team began working on the land on Friday, November 15, and installed a bench, with hanging baskets and a wildflower area planned for the future.

"Good quality physical space and well maintained environments are so important.

"This is hopefully just the start for this piece of land. We’d really value any ideas or contributions to improve this space further.

"Please get in touch! Thanks also to the land owner for supporting these improvements."

"We've been trying to get something sorted. Eventually we tracked down the owner, who was happy for us to do something with it.

"Hopefully it will improve the look of the place."
