TWO boys who climbed onto a shopping centre roof are to be quizzed by police.

A huge emergency service response was called to Northwich on Tuesday (November 12) following reports of two youngsters on top of a building in Weaver Square.

The teenagers, age 15 and 16, eventually came down from the roof where they were greeted by Cheshire Police officers, who escorted them home.

The pair are now set to be interviewed under police caution.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The two youths came down from the roof at around 3pm and were met by officers.

“The boys, aged 15 and 16, were both taken home to their next of kin and are set to be interviewed under police caution at a later date.”

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three engines to the scene at around 1.45pm on Tuesday.

They were joined there by the aerial ladder platform, a technical rescue unit, the ambulance service and police.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said at the time: “At 1.45pm on Tuesday, November 12, police were called to reports of youths on the roof of a building in Northwich.

“Officers attended and found two youths on the roof of Weaver Square shopping centre.

“Police, fire and ambulance are currently in attendance and are currently engaging with the youths to get them off the building.”
