A BRIDGE near Winsford has been closed.
Ashbrook Bridge on Swanlow Lane has been shut for the next week.
It follows a crash last month in which a car struck the Grade II-listed structure, which now requires repairs.
A Cheshire West and Chester Council spokesperson said: “Following a collision, Ashbrook Bridge, on Swanlow Lane between Winsford and Church Minshull, will be closed for seven days from November 13 while repairs take place on both sides of the Grade II-listed structure.”
Cheshire Police were called to the scene of the crash shortly before 11.30pm on Thursday (October 31).
Upon arrival they found a white Vauxhall Corsa had collided with the bridge.
Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, did not sustain any injuries.
CWAC previously stated that a new speed limit and temporary traffic lights would be introduced on Swanlow Lane to allow the repairs to be completed safely.
These measures came were put into effect the day after the crash and are expected to remain in place for around six weeks.
On Wednesday (November 13), the council took the decision to shut Ashbrook Bridge entirely.
The approach to the bridge from both directions will be closed to motorists for the next seven days.
