THERE were 267 babies born at Leighton Hospital in October 2024 – did you welcome a new arrival?
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust collates all the baby-related data every month detailing how many babies are born – boys and girls – whether there are any sets of twins or triplets and how babies are delivered.
There are stats for the number of babies born on their due date, before their due date and after their due date as well as the how many new arrivals experienced skin to skin at birth or were breast fed within 48 hours.
There were 267 babies born at Leighton Hospital last month – 49 per cent were girls and 51 per cent were boys.
There were four sets of twins and 89 per cent of babies experienced skin to skin straight after being born with 73.6 per cent being breast fed within 48 hours.
Sixteen babies arrived on their due date, 165 were born before their due date and 86 were late - 36 per cent of women were induced.
Some 2.9 per cent were home births and 8.2 per cent were water births with 79.1 per cent of babies delivered on the labour ward or in theatre and 17.6 per cent were on the midwife led unit.
Unassisted vaginal births accounted for 52.8 per cent with 16.4 per cent elective caesarean sections and 21 per cent emergency caesarean sections.
Some 7.2 per cent were forceps births and 2.6 per cent were ventouse deliveries.
Every month we appeal for your pictures of your new babies.
These babies feature in an online article every month and will also appear in a special supplement at the start of next year.
