COMMUNITIES across Mid Cheshire have gathered to pay respect to their fallen heroes.
Remembrance parades and services were held in towns and villages across the area, giving residents a chance to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
In Winsford, the commemorations were held at a new location following the relocation the town’s war memorials to a new public square by the library.
Town mayor, Cllr Wayne Fletcher, said: “I was deeply moved by the strong turnout at this year’s Remembrance Service.
“It was wonderful to see so many residents, local groups, and members of the armed forces come together to honour those who served and sacrificed.
“The respect and unity shown by everyone present was a powerful tribute to their memory.”
Among those in attendance on Sunday (November 10) was MP Andrew Cooper.
He said: “Today people gathered across Mid Cheshire to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.
“Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Over in Northwich, a parade made its way through the town, arriving for a service at St Helen’s Church at 10am.
The service, led by Reverend Andrew Ridley, featured hymns and readings by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, Eric Hodgson, and mayor of Northwich, Cllr Kate Cernik.
After the service, the congregation met at the Cenotaph, where a two-minute silence was observed before wreaths were laid at the foot of the war memorial.
Speaking after, Cllr Cernik said: “On Sunday, Northwich paid its respects to our brave service men and women and took time to remember those who have lost their lives or been injured protecting our country in conflicts over the last 100 years.
“Many groups and organisations participated in our Remembrance ceremony.
“They marched and walked with members of the public to remember and take time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our armed services.
“Thank you to everyone who participated and to those who organised and supported the event.
“We will remember them.”
In Middlewich, the parade set off from the Royal British Legion at 10.30am, arriving at the War Memorial ahead of the service and national two-minute silence.
Veterans, police, community groups, sports teams and more took part in paying tribute to fallen service men and women.
"Our under eights team attended the Remembrance Memorial service yesterday in town, alongside the club chairman," said a spokesperson for Middlewich Town FC.
"The behaviour and respect shown as they represented MTFC was exemplary and we are very proud. Thank you very much to all who attended, players, coaches and managers!
"Let’s we forget."
