A SALT mine is being lit up blue for an important cause.
Compass Minerals UK has shown its support for National Diabetes Month.
Winsford Rock Salt Mine, the UK’s largest and oldest working mine, has been turned blue, the international colour for Diabetes Awareness.
Zoe Sergeant, customer service coordinator at Compass Minerals UK, said: “It’s nice to work for a company that recognises the importance of raising awareness for diabetes, and I’m really pleased with how the lights look.”
Compass Minerals UK is one of many organisations participating in National Diabetes Month.
The campaign aims to raise awareness and explain the signs and symptoms of diabetes.
To help spread this message, blue lighting has been installed the conveyor system which transfers rock salt into the dome.
It can be viewed from the footpath which runs along the River Weaver, opposite Winsford Rock Salt Mine on Bradford Road.
The lights will remain in place throughout November.
