POLICE used a stinger to try and stop suspects.

One man has been arrested following a police chase through Cheshire.

At 9am on Thursday (November 7), officers attempted to stop three cars identified by ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras using a police stinger on the A49 near Acton Swing Bridge.

However, all three of the cars failed to stop and made off at speed towards Runcorn and Warrington.

During the chase, one of the vehicles was involved in a minor crash with a silver VW Caddy near to the Holly Bush pub near Bartington.

 There were no reports of any serious injuries.

Police later caught one of the drivers, a 38-year-old man from Kirby.

He was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and was also wanted in relation to burglary offences in Merseyside.

Officers have thus far been unable to locate the other two drivers.
