A NORTHWICH man has been jailed for harassing his domestic violence victim in the days immediately following a court appearance.

Shaun Yardley, of Church Road, initially appeared at court on October 23 after assaulting a woman in Cuddington on September 12 earlier this year.

On this occasion, the 36-year-old was jailed for four weeks, but from the day of his court appearance he began harassing his victim.

Between the day of the court appearance and October 26, Yardley constantly called and messaged his victim, as well as attended her home.

During this time, he also attacked a police officer in Northwich.

Yardley was hauled back to court and appeared before magistrates in Warrington on October 28, where he admitted harassment and assaulting an emergency worker.

At this court appearance, magistrates jailed Yardley for eight weeks and imposed a three-year restraining order.

This order bans him from contacting the victim by any means, whether directly or indirectly, and also from entering a specified address in Cuddington.

The court heard a custodial sentence was justified due to the seriousness of the offence against the same defendant, and the fact this matter represented a 'persistent breach'.

Magistrates also fined Yardley £100 for the charge of assaulting an emergency worker.
