A DRIVER must complete unpaid work after he crashed into a lamppost and made off from the scene.
Samuel Flannery, of Austin Drive, Northwich, was driving a Ford Fiesta on the A50 Toft Road in Knutsford when he collided with the lamppost on March 3 earlier this year.
But instead of stopping, the 25-year-old drove off from the crash and failed to report the incident to police within 24 hours.
Flannery was charged with failing to stop and failing to report a collision, both of which he admitted at a court hearing on September 23.
Appearing at Crewe Magistrates Court for sentencing on October 29, Flannery was handed a 12-month community order.
Within the court order, Flannery must complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
His driving licence was endorsed with eight points.
The bench also ordered him to pay £85 in costs as well as a £114 surcharge.
