A NORTHWICH van driver has been banned from the roads after being caught behind the wheel while more than twice the alcohol limit.

Christy Harmon was travelling in a Ford Transit at his home address in Huxley Street when he was caught on October 4 earlier this year.

The 33-year-old was found to have 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath, above the legal limit of 35.

Charged with drink-driving, Harmon appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on October 29, where he pleaded guilty.

Taking his admission into account, magistrates disqualified him from driving for 22 months, which could be reduced by 22 weeks should he complete a rehabilitation course by January 27, 2026.

The bench also fined Harmon £793 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £317 surcharge, leaving him with a total court bill of £1,195.
