AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 61-year-old man who died after a crash in Northwich.
Cheshire Coroners’ Court heard Philip Cruse had been driving his car on the A556, Chester Road, on June 17 when he was involved in a collision.
The 61-year-old, who was driving a BMW, collided with a black Volkswagen transit van.
Emergency services attended the scene and sadly pronounced the 61-year-old, from Northwich, dead at the scene.
Cheshire Police appealed for information following the collision and have confirmed enquiries are still ongoing.
“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have witnessed the collision,” the appeal said.
"We believe that the BMW had been travelling from Chester towards Northwich, while the van was travelling in the opposite direction towards Chester.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who believes that they may have seen either the BMW or the van in the moments prior to the to the incident.
"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation."
Senior coroner for Cheshire, Jacqueline Devonish, formally opened an inquest due to Mr Cruse’s cause of death being ‘unnatural’.
The full inquest into Mr Cruse’s death will be heard on February 20, 2025.
