A MAN has been ordered to pay a pharmacy £1,000 in compensation after causing significant damage while on the premises.

Robert McNally appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on October 16 facing a charge of causing criminal damage.

The court heard the 43-year-old entered the Danebridge Pharmacy in London Road on May 21 earlier this year.

Once inside, McNally proceeded to damage the pharmacy's shelves, a printer and medication belonging to the owner.

At the court hearing this week, McNally pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage and was ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.

McNally is currently in custody awaiting the outcome of a crown court hearing in which he faces a charge of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and criminal damage to a police vehicle.

This charge followed McNally's arrest on Monday, July 8, when armed police officers opened fire on his Burgess Place home. No plea has yet been entered.

He will return to Chester Crown Court on this matter for a pre-trial preparation hearing on October 25 ahead of a trial beginning on November 18, where it will be determined if he is fit to enter a plea due to his mental health.
