A MUSICIAN described as an 'under sung national treasure' is coming to Northwich.

On the back of a near-sell out show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room, Vinny Peculiar will be in town on Friday, October 18.

Vinny Peculiar (also known as Alan Wilkes) and his band are returning to Davenham Players Theatre as part of an autumn 2024 tour calling at venues across England.

The performance at the Church Street theatre will include tracks from his latest album How I Learned To Love The Freaks alongside older favourites from his back catalogue

Organiser Andrew Whalley, who runs enterprise SABADO NFP, said: "Vinny Peculiar grew up in Worcestershire and trained as a nurse before signing to Manchester cult label Ugly Man records (former home to Elbow).

"He’s since put out numerous albums of literate autobiographical pop music over a 20-plus-year career and has regularly toured band, solo and duo shows.

"Vinny has been variously described as 'an under sung national treasure' (Uncut magazine), 'a warm-hearted Morrissey' (Q magazine) and 'the missing link between Jarvis Cocker and Roger McGough' (Irish Times)."

Opening the night falls to award-winning author and gifted singer-songwriter Common Hall, also known as Robert Williams.

Tickets are £16.50 and can be bought here. Tickets can also be be bought at £15 by calling or texting SABADO NFP on 07510 853589.

Doors open at 7.30pm, with an 8pm start. Curfew at 10.15pm.
