POLICE have warned of a ‘potentially dangerous issue’ affecting an anti-social behaviour hotspot.

Davenham and Moulton Police have urged residents to take care around Leftwich Green Community Support Centre.

It comes after two manhole covers were removed, with fears people could could fall in as a result.

“This is a potentially dangerous issue they have caused due to the fact that someone may fall in,” said a police spokesperson.

“The relevant partner agencies have been alerted.

“To stay safe, please keep clear of the Leftwich community building area especially at night, due to the low level lighting, until this has been resolved.”

Police believe this incident may be connected to ongoing anti-social behaviour issues plaguing the building.

Leftwich Green Community Support Centre has become a target for vandals since being shut down by Cheshire West and Chester Council in 2018.

Following a spate of incidents over the summer, police met with Northwich Town Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council representatives in September to come up with a solution.

As a result of this meeting, additional metal fencing was erected around the building, with anti-vandal paint applied.

The building continues to be part of PCSO Lee Robertson’s patrol plan.

“If there is anyone in the area they may be subjected to questioning and stop searched due to the number of issues that have occurred,” the police spokesperson added.

“Therefore, we do advise if you know of anyone that has been around the area, please advise them to stay away from the area.

“Also, if we do ask if there is any further issues with youths or any other person trying to gain entry or damaging the building, please dial 999 immediately.”
