TIME is running out to get tickets for a legendary punk band’s upcoming gig in Northwich.

From the Jam will take to the Plaza stage this Saturday (October 12).

The show forms part of the band’s Setting Sons tour, celebrating 45 years since the release of the album which reached number four in the UK charts.

Sadly, they will be without original The Jam member Bruce Foxton, who is still recovering after undergoing knee surgery earlier this year.

“As a lot of you know my health has not been good for the past few years and the latest news is that I have had to go into hospital for an immediate procedure,” he announced in August.

“It is with much regret and sadness that I will not be able to perform again with From the Jam until I have made a full recovery.

“The band has done everything to help me for the past couple of years and have even suggested several times that I take time off to look after my health and recuperate.

“That time has now come so I wish the band (my dear friends) continued success until I return and with God’s will I will see you all in the not too distant future on the 'Setting Sons’ 45th anniversary tour. Much love and respect, Bruce.”

The Jam achieved four number-ones from their debut in 1977 to their breakup in 1982, with A Town Called Malice, Beat Surrender, Going Underground and Start all topping the UK singles charts.

Drummer Rick Buckler then formed The Gift in 2006.

He was later joined by bassist Foxton and they renamed the group From The Jam, with Russell Hastings replacing Paul Weller as the band’s frontman.

Today, From the Jam’s usual lineup is made up of Foxton, Hastings and drummer Mike Randon.

The Setting Sons tour kicked off in Southampton on Friday (October 4).

Tickets for the Northwich gig are still available via Radio Northwich, priced at £35 for standing and £40 for unreserved seating.

London Calling, the UK's premiere tribute to The Clash, will open the show.
