A 'NEIGHBOURHOOD' coffee chain is looking to open a new store at the former Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop in Northwich town centre.
Coffee #1 has submitted an application for new signage for the empty unit on Witton Street.
The company, which opened in 2001, has more than 100 stores across England and Wales, including in Macclesfield, Buxton, and Leek.
The plans include alterations and painting to the shopfront. The firm has also applied for an alfresco licence to provide outdoor tables.
The new store would have space for 90 customers, with the upstairs floor being used for office and staff facilities.
A document submitted on behalf of the applicant, said: “The alterations to the store that require planning permission are minor and relate to the painting of the shopfront and the addition of fascia and projection signage.
“While the site is not locally listed, it is located within the designated Northwich Conservation Area.
"Much of the surrounding buildings are characterised by black and white timber frames, with several listed buildings located on Witton Street."
