A PRIMARY school was awash with golden bunting and balloons after being recognised for its religious education (RE) teaching.
Whitegate CE Primary School held a golden day of celebration on September 25 after being awarded a prestigious gold mark in RE.
As part of the celebration and to mark the achievement, the village school hosted an activity day highlighting its Christian values and ethos.
A school spokeswoman said: "The day was a resounding success, demonstrating the strength and vibrancy of Whitegate’s Christian values, ethos and community.
"The children’s smiles and enthusiasm throughout the celebration were a testament to how these values are lived and breathed every day at the school."
Over the course of the day, the children experienced a series of engaging workshops including crafting wooden owls, symbolising the value of wisdom, creating handprints, and writing poetry.
A lively game of 'Growth Bingo' followed, with children matching key moments in their school journey to the theme of personal and spiritual growth.
A highlight for many was the blindfolded walk, which encouraged students to reflect on faith and trust as they navigated a course guided only by the voices of their peers.
After the morning's activities, everyone gathered in the school hall, suitably adorned in gold, for a buffet lunch which was served by dedicated members of staff.
The school spokeswoman added: "The children eagerly enjoyed an array of treats in the festive atmosphere, bringing the whole school together in a joyful feast that highlighted their spirit of community and gratitude.
"The final workshop was about the value of love where they decorated hearts and wrote ways they could demonstrate love in their daily lives.
"The day ended with a special collective worship which offered the chance to share the day’s learning and celebrate the values that underpin life at Whitegate CE Primary.
"The hall echoed with applause as each teacher presented the children’s learning and gave the pupils their chance to shine.
"The children’s pride in their achievements was clear to see and the community enjoyed a special picture slideshow set to music (Gold by Spandau Ballet of course!) to end the celebration."
