A DRUNK woman dragged a little girl along a residential street in Middlewich by her hair.
Miranda Lloyd’s cruelty on February 26, last year, was witnessed by a resident through his front window.
He told police he was ‘shocked’ as at one stage, Lloyd was ‘on top of the girl in the road’.
The man was so alarmed he rush out to intervene, but when he confronted the 33-year-old, who was drunk, she called him a paedophile.
He called the police, who went to Lloyd’s house, where officers found her ‘drunk and unpredictable’.
When they tried to question her, she got into bed and tried to hide under the bedclothes.
Lloyd was charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a child but pleaded not guilty at Chester Crown Court on December 20, 2023, and a trial date was set.
However, she changed her plea to guilty on May 30, and was bailed to return to Chester for sentencing on Monday, September 30.
Defending, Mark Connor told the court Lloyd has a history of alcohol abuse, which she uses ‘as a crutch’, and has suffered from severe post-natal depression.
He added she has herself been a victim of abuse but ‘has had very little in the way of support’, adding: “This ought to afford her some sympathy from the court."
Mr Connor said Lloyd, of Moorland Road, Sandbach, has ‘significantly reduced her alcohol consumption' since the offence, and is currently holding down a job in a pub.
Passing sentence, His Honour Judge Steven Everett said: “It seems to me alcohol has been the bane of your life, and at the time of this offence, you clearly were not coping at all.
“All the same, you were seen dragging a small child along by her hair, and when a concerned person intervened, you called him a paedophile.
“This is absolutely dreadful.”
Judge Everett handed Lloyd a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
He also ordered her undergo six months compulsory mental health treatment and complete up to 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
She must also pay a £187 victim surcharge by Monday, October 28.
