KIND-HEARTED garden centre staff have cycled more than 200 miles to support a charity brightening the lives of life-limited children.
Last weekend, the team at the Weaver Vale Garden Centre took on their in-store challenge with the aim of completing 150 miles between them.
But, with the exercise bike prominently placed in the Winnington Avenue store, the staff powered past their initial target to reach a huge total of 215 miles.
The challenge was organised to raise money for the garden centre's charity of the year - The Greenfingers Charity.
This charity aims to provide life-limited children, their families, and carers, within hospices across the UK, emotional support through the power and pleasure of nature.
Greenfingers creates beautiful outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with their family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.
After completing their challenge, the Weaver Vale team raised around £400 for the charity.
A garden centre spokesman said: "We would like to send a heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone of our customers who gave so generously."
In the coming week's the garden centre will be hosting a number of other fundraising events in support of Greenfingers.
These include a tombola and table sale on Saturday, October 19, and a cake sale on Thursday, November 14.
There will also be several raffles held at the garden centre between now and Christmas.
