TRIBUTES have been paid to 'cheeky character' David Eaton after his tragic death in Northwich at the weekend.
The 37-year-old was found with several stab wounds to his chest after emergency services were called to an address in Brook Lane, Rudheath, at around 3.35pm on Saturday, September 28.
Despite the best efforts of those involved, David, of Northwich, was pronounced dead at the scene.
This prompted the launch of a murder investigation, with two people - a man and a woman - arrested on suspicion of murder.
Since his death, tributes have poured in for David on social media, including from Northwich Victoria FC.
In a statement, his family said: "David was a popular, loveable rogue, with a heart of gold."
A spokesman for the club posted: "Everyone at Northwich Victoria is deeply saddened to hear of the death of David Eaton (Bode) in a tragic incident on Saturday afternoon.
"Our deepest sympathy goes out to all his family and friends and his loveable cheeky character will be deeply missed by us all at the club."
Posting to the Guardian's Facebook page, Fox Ann added: "So sad. RIP matey, hope you're at peace."
Joeboe Howe said: "Rest easy Bode x."
Jess Louise Jones added: "RIP Bode taken far too soon."
Thirty-five-year-old Matthew Higgins, of Brook Lane, was later charged with murder and will appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, October 2.
The woman, aged 41, was released on conditional bail.
