A YOUTH club in Middlewich has been cancelled 'until further notice' following a spate of vandalism incidents.
The CW10 Youth Hub, which is put on by Middlewich Town Council and the Cheshire East Youth Support Service, usually runs each Wednesday evening from 6.30pm.
But after 'repeated damages', the club, which caters for young people aged 13 to 18, has been stopped for the foreseeable future.
The provision of the youth club, which takes place at the Victoria Hall in Civic Way, will now be subject to discussion at the town council's October meeting.
A town council spokesperson said: "The youth club has been cancelled until further notice.
"This is due to repeated damages. The latest incidents relate to the door between the link tunnel and the Victoria Hall, which had been kicked in which has affected its locking system.
"This has now been repaired at a cost to the town council.
"Suspected tampering of a fire extinguisher where the tamper seal and locking pin had been removed.
"This is the second time in recent history that has happened. It is illegal to tamper with fire response equipment, which is out of use until the seal can be replaced.
"The provision of the youth club service will be reviewed at the October council meeting."
The youth club also shut down throughout December last year due to 'poor behaviour', before returning in January 2024.
