POLICE officers are continuing to stand guard at a property in Northwich after a murder investigation was launched following the death of a man.

Emergency services were dispatched to Brook Lane, Rudheath, at around 3.35pm on Saturday, September 28, following reports of a disturbance.

On arrival a man, believed to be in his late 30s, was found with serious injuries but despite efforts from attending paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was launched into the incident with two people, a 41-year-old woman and a man aged 35, arrested at the address on suspicion of murder.

Police have confirmed both suspects remain in custody, which has now been extended to allow for further questioning.

Officers remain at the scene, with the blue forensics tent still erected around the property's front door.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Detective Inspector Eleanor Atkinson, who is leading the investigation, said: “I understand the concern this incident is likely to cause, and I want to reassure residents this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community.

“Two people have been arrested and are currently being held in police custody.

“As part of the investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed anything suspicious.

"The same goes or anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid the in investigation.”
