Posting on social media, a spokesman for Winsford police said: “The mains electricity had been bypassed, increasing the risk of fire within the semi-detached property, which could have had devastating consequences for the occupants of the neighbouring house.”

Police have donated the empty plant pots and unopened bags of fertiliser to Lets Farm, a charity based in Winsford, offering people with learning disabilities a chance to take part in farming life.

Neim Hoxha, an Albanian man, has been charged in connection with the discovery of drugs.

The 27-year-old, of Rosewood Drive, Winsford, appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on September 26.

Hoxha pleaded guilty to producing cannabis, controlled class B drugs, and driving without a licence or insurance.

He was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on October 31.

Winsford police are appealing for anyone who has suspicions about a property being used for drugs, to contact Cheshire police on 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
