WORK is taking place to make a 'dangerous structure' safe.
One person has been taken to hospital after 'material' fell off a building in Northwich and struck two people.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has now confirmed that efforts are being made to make the area around the property safer.
A spokesperson for the council said: "The council is sorry to hear about this incident and our thoughts are with the individuals affected.
"We have been informed of the dangerous structure and the Building Control Manager is on site to assess the situation and is working with partners to ensure that the area is safe."
Emergency services were called to Northwich at around 10.40am on Monday (September 23).
It was reported that 'falling material' had hit two members of the public.
An eyewitness said this came from a building on High Street, with firefighters accessing the property via Market Street.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire crews were called out after two members of the public were reportedly struck with falling material from a building.
"No one is believed to have been seriously harmed.
"Firefighters have put a cordon in place and are advising people to avoid the area.
"Crews have requested local authority building control to come and assess the situation."
North West Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
They have confirmed that one person was treated and discharged on scene.
Another person had to be taken to hospital for treatment with 'minor injuries'.
