A DRINK-DRIVER has been banned from the roads.

Percy Quarcoo, of Devis Way, Knutsford, admitted having 88 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood at Chester Magistrates’ Court on September18.

The legal limit is 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The 44-year-old was caught over the limit whilst behind the wheel of a BMW on Wells Avenue in Northwich on Saturday, March 30, last year.

Quarcoo was banned from driving for a year.

Drink-driving is a criminal offence that carries an obligatory driving disqualification of a minimum period of 12 months.

This ban could be reduced to three months if the defendant completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course by April 17, next year.

Quarcoo was also fined £440 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £176 victim surcharge.

Magistrates took his guilty plea into consideration when imposing the sentence.

The defendant was granted permission to pay the £701 court penalty in £100 monthly instalments, starting on October 17.
