MARTIN Lewis has been reflecting on his childhood in Cheshire.
The Money Saving Expert founder took to social media this week to share a photo from his youth.
The photo, which featured in a local newspaper, shows the future financial journalist with a Christmas tree at Delamere Forest.
However, there’s a certain irony to the image, as Lewis doesn’t actually celebrate the Christian holiday.
“Found this old photo of me taken for a local newspaper when I was five,” read the caption of the Facebook post.
“We lived in Delamere Forest where many people come to get their Christmas trees.
“The photographer wanted a young child, and asked my parents, who said yes, even though I was probably the only boy within 10 miles at the time who didn’t celebrate Christmas.
“We were Chanucah kids and so we never had a tree.”
Chanucah, also spelled Hanukkah, is the Jewish festival of light.
It commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem.
Lewis and his family moved to Cheshire when his father was appointed headmaster of Delamere Forest School, a Jewish school for students with special educational needs.
In the comment section of his social media post, Lewis confirmed he is ‘still a Chanucah boy’.
He also revealed that his family used to live on Blakemere Lane in Norley as other Facebook users shared their memories of growing up in Mid Cheshire.
