A MIDDLEWICH salon owner beat back nationwide competition to be named UK Hairdresser of the Year.
Earlier this year, Jack Carter, who owns Jack Terry Studio on Webb’s Lane, was told he had made it on to the final 10 shortlist for a top award at the Nation’s Hair and Beauty Awards 2024.
On Sunday, August 25, Jack travelled to the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel to attend the glitzy award ceremony.
He said it was ‘surreal’ when he heard himself named UK hairdresser of the year, just four years after going into business for himself.
Jack said: “I was so grateful to be in the final 10 but to hear my name called up on stage and to receive first place for Hairdresser of the Year was so surreal.”
It has been just four years since Jack opened the salon, after taking the ‘huge risk’ to go self-employed during the pandemic.
Jack added: “I have tried so hard to make my dreams a reality and it’s times like this I know it’s so worth it and it is paying off.
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all for the amazing support and keeping me super busy all the time.
“Without all the support I wouldn’t be where I am today and I’m forever grateful.”
The popular studio offers a range of hair and beauty treatments and specialises in hair colouring.
A spokesperson for the Nation's Hair and Beauty Awards said: “We’re proud to once again shine the spotlight on the talented professionals that have shown great passion, commitment and innovation for the beauty industry, who often don’t get the recognition they deserve.
“The awards highlight not only the growth of the hair and beauty sector but its increased importance to the UK economy.
“We’d like to congratulate all of our winners and highly commended recipients on their incredible accomplishments.”
Another local winner was Jaxx Hair and Beauty in Winsford, which took the prize for the Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year for the north of England.
