A 27-YEAR-old died after entering the River Weaver, a court heard.
An inquest into George Knight’s death took place at Cheshire Coroner’s Court on Wednesday (September 18).
It heard how Mr Knight was pulled from the river near Sandbach Drive in Kingsmead at around 5.35pm on June 1.
He was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where he sadly died on June 5.
Cheshire Coroner’s Court heard that Mr Knight, of Seagrave Close, ‘deliberately entered’ the water, but that 'his intention could not be ascertained'.
Area coroner for Cheshire Victoria Davies concluded that Mr Knight’s death was hypoxic brain injury due to out of hospital cardiac arrest caused by drowning due to ketamine use.
Ms Davies offered her condolences to Mr Knight’s family and friends.
At the time of the incident, a spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters rescued a casualty from the River Weaver at Kingsmead.
"The crew assisted paramedics with medical care before the casualty was taken to hospital.
"The air ambulance was also in attendance."
