FULFILLING your loved one’s final wishes isn’t always a simple task.
Full cemeteries and legal restrictions can make an already unpleasant task even more painful.
With that in mind, a poll of 3,000 Brits has been conducted to find out where people would want their ashes scattered, if they could pick anywhere.
Stonehenge proved to be the most popular choice, with the mysterious landmark joined in the top ten by other iconic sights, such as Wembley Stadium, Tower Bridge and the White Cliffs of Dover.
Three locations in Cheshire were included in the 250-strong list, with Tatton Park the preferred option (112 of 250).
Considering its picturesque gardens and varied wildlife, it is perhaps an unsurprising pick.
Chester Cathedral, which has a history spanning almost 1,000 years, was also included in the list (156 of 250), offering a spiritual final resting place.
Just making the cut was the Sandstone Trail (249 of 250), which stretches from Whitchurch to Frodsham.
The 34-mile footpath is a fitting choice for walkers and nature lovers, offering stunning views over the Cheshire countryside.
“The results of this survey offer a fascinating insight into the places that hold the most sentimental value for Brits,” said a spokesperson for RacingClub.com.
“Whether it's iconic landmarks, places of natural beauty, or cultural institutions, it's clear that, given the choice, people would like their final resting place to be somewhere that resonates with their personal journey and the collective memory of the nation.”
