BARGAIN hunters looking for a unique piece of Northwich to call their own need look no further than Barons Quay.

Community interest company, Visual Arts Cheshire (VAC), is opening a special exhibition at their pop-up gallery, next to Northwich’s Odeon cinema, which they’ve called A Day in the Life (of our Town).

The show, which opens on Saturday, September 14, features pictures following a Northwich Art Festival sketching day event in July.

Artists were invited to spend two or three hours painting and sketching around the town, then to create a unique picture inspired by their observations.

VAC spokesman, Phil Carswell, said the British weather left much to be desired on the sketching day itself, adding: “It conspired against us with a day of wet weather, but artists are a tenacious breed.

“Lots ignored the weather completely, whilst others spent time on drier days working on ideas for their paintings.

“Nevertheless, the range and quality of work on display is a testament to the talent of all the artists involved in this event.

“We’re especially delighted that the celebrated local artist, Bernice Tackley, who completed a stunning montage painting for this exhibition.”

All the work on display for the exhibition is for sale and will include other works by the artists who took part in the July sketching day.

The gallery’s opening times are every Thursday to Saturday, from 10.30am to 4.00pm.

It can be found next to the Odeon cinema, and opposite Wildwood pizza restaurant.
