POLICE investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy whose body was found in the River Weaver are appealing to the public for information.

Jonty Evans was reported missing from his family home in Baddington on Saturday, August 31. 

Sadly, the teenager's body was found in the River Weaver by police officers near Riverside, Nantwich, at 5.13pm on Sunday, September 1.

Enquiries into Jonty's whereabouts before he entered the Weaver are ongoing and Cheshire Police have now launched an appeal for information. 

They've asked anyone who was in the Waterlode area of Nantwich between 12.30am and 2.30am on Saturday 31 August and may have seen Jonty, to please get in touch.

They’re also asking people in the area to check CCTV, dashcam, and Ring doorbell footage.

Detective Inspector Nigel Parr, of the major investigation team, said: "Our investigation into how Jonty entered the water remains ongoing. 

"As part of further enquiries, we are asking anyone who may have seen him in the Waterlode area of Nantwich between 12.30am and 2.30am on Sunday, September 1, or has captured him on any CCTV, dashcam or Ring doorbell footage, to please get in touch.

"As well as this, I would also like to ask anyone who has any information that may help officers in understanding the circumstances surrounding Jonty's death to please come forward."

Anyone with any CCTV, dashcam, Ring doorbell footage or any information relating to this incident can submit it to police directly via MIPP.
