THE man arrested by armed police near Northwich had been followed by officers investigating an incident near a primary school in North Wales.
Sealand Primary School in Flintshire went into lockdown shortly after 12.30pm, when North Wales Police (NWP) officers were called to the area over a concern for safety.
No threats were made against the school or anyone within, in what NWP has described as 'an isolated incident'.
After the man left Farm Road in Sealand, armed officers tracked him to Comberbach, where he was eventually arrested by Cheshire Police shortly after 3.25pm.
Witnesses in Warrington Road reported seeing the police helicopter in the sky while officers on the ground surrounded a vehicle.
The man was then arrested by Cheshire officers on suspicion of malicious communications before being transferred into the custody of NWP.
He has since been released with no further action taken.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "At around 3.25pm on Monday, September 9, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a man in a vehicle in the Comberbach area of Northwich.
"Local officers, with support from firearms officers, were deployed to the scene and engaged with the man.
"He has since been arrested and is currently being taken to police custody."
Chief Inspector Matt Geddes, of NWP, added: "This was an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.
"Increased patrols were in place on Farm Road for reassurance and no threats were made against the school or anyone within.
“Thank you to residents for their support as we dealt with the incident.”
