FIREFIGHTERS rescued two people in Hartford stuck 17 metres in the air in a broken-down cherry picker.

Fire engines from Northwich and Lymm were called to Beach Road at 12.40pm on Wednesday, September 11, after reports of two people stranded at height.

While officers had access to the aerial ladder platform, they were able to use conventional ladders, including a roof ladder, to bring the pair to safety.

It's believed the incident was caused by a mechanical fault with the cherry picker.

Cheshire Police also attended to help with traffic management.
